It would be almost impossible to have a page for every geological site in West Sussex, but this page will include a few highlights. I will be grateful for contributions. A number of these sites have been listed as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) or Regionally Important Geological and Geomorphological Sites (RIGS). More information on what this means here.

Geological site listing
  • Mantell Monument - Whiteman's Green, Cuckfield. No longer a geological site but commemorating Gideon Mantell's discovery of Iguanodon in 1825. Opened in 2000, this is thought to be the only dinosaur monument in the UK. Further information on these pages at Dinohunters and Cuckfield Museum.
More (real geology) sites to follow in due course, including:

Bognor
Bracklesham
Selsey
Building stones and churches

Please let me know if you have any specific requests.
