THE SOCIETYWelcome to the new homepage of the West Sussex Geological Society (WSGS). The Society was formed in 1977 to promote the knowledge of, and interest in geology and to provide a forum for discussion, demonstration and exchange of views amongst its members. With around 80 members, the Society currently holds lectures and other meetings at 7.30pm on the third Friday of the month, excluding July and August, at St Stephen's Church, Angola Road, Worthing (location map here). The WSGS warmly welcomes new members so if you are interested, then please turn up to a meeting and enjoy. Please go to the Programme page to find out more or email the Chairman, Ken Steel. FIELD TRIPSField trips are also arranged on a regular basis, as detailed in the Programme page. Please register your interest in any field trip as soon as possible. Trips with insufficient advance interest may be cancelled. Members are advised to confirm field trips at least one week in advance.'OUTCROP', THE SOCIETY NEWSLETTERTwice a year the society produces a newsletter 'Outcrop', copies of which can be seen in Worthing and Chichester libraries, as well as being distributed to many other organisations. Articles include lecture and field trip reports, local studies, and a range of other articles on geology from home and abroad. Contributions are always gratefully received. Advertising is available in 'Outcrop' at very reasonable rates.AFFILIATION

to the Geologists' Association. Amongst other benefits, affiliation to the
Geologists' Association entitles any WSGS member to attend any Geologists'
